The members visited the facilities of the ICU of the General Hospital, the Clinical Laboratories and the Research Unit for Molecular Therapy (UITM).

SAFE-N-MEDTECH (SAFEnmt) is a project funded by the European Union whose objective is to promote the development of medical nanotechnologies. This week, in the framework of its meeting for the celebration of its management committee meeting, members of the project have had the opportunity to discover first-hand some of the facilities of Vall d'Hebron, among which are the ICU of the General Hospital, the Clinical Laboratories and the Research Unit for Molecular Therapy (UITM).

The visit was attended by more than 40 members of 24 institutions. From the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), the project is led by Dr. Ibane Abasolo, head of the Drug Delivery and Targeting group.

SAFEnmt is made up of experts from 28 centers around the world working to translate medical nanotechnologies into clinical practice. It consists of an open access platform that provides a complete service offering for the nanotechnology-based medical device market and its value chain, from initial characterization, preclinical validation, access to biobanks and patient samples, regulation and commercialization.
