The Spanish scientist María José Buzón, researcher at the Infectious Diseases Group of Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) has been selected among 236 other young scientists from around the world, as one of the 15 International Rising Talent of the http://www.fwis.fr/en/home L'Oréal-UNESCO Program for Women in Science. An award, with an endowment of 15,000 euros each, that aims to value the talent and experience of these young researchers, and boost their careers, giving them greater visibility in the international scientific community.María José Buzón, born in Cerdanyola del Vallés (Barcelona), and graduated in Biotechnology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, researches to design more effective therapies "to eliminate forever the virus of the human body and thus cure the infection caused by HIV". Currently she is developing her research project "Identification of reactivating viral latency acting on long life T CD4+ lymphocyte cells as a therapy to cure HIV infection" in the VHIR.In 2015 she was also one of the winners of the tenth edition of the "Bolsas de Investigación" award of the Program For Women in Science in Spain who was in its 15 anniversary. So the international award adds up another 15,000 euros to that obtained in our country. Ma José Buzón is the fifth Spanish to be internationally awarded in the 18 years of history of the program. Dr. Buzón will receive this Thursday, March 24 the award during the L'Oréal-UNESCO awards ceremony to be held at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
