Mireia and Andrea, founders of Mi Compañero de Viaje, gave the donation to the group of Translational Research in Child and Adolescent Cancer of Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) and were "very happy to be here today with the collection of funds of a project in which we believe and work hard for". The Foundation has the support of Eric Abidal Foundation.The funded project is the "Molecular characterization of pediatric sarcomas for a more effective customized therapy" of the group of Translational Research in Child and Adolescent Cancer of VHIR. The aim of the project is to improve the survival rate of patients with pediatric sarcomas with the customization of the therapy.Dr. Josep Sánchez de Toledo, head of the research group, thanked the task of the Foundation "on behalf of the Pediatric Oncology Service of the Hospital, VHIR and all of we represent, patients and their families, as with this project we will be able to improve their diagnosis and customize their therapies". Dr. Soledad Gallego, Scientific Coordinator of the group and Dr. Josep Roma, Director of the research line in soft structure Sarcomas shared with Andrea and Mireia the main aspects of the research.Mi Compañero de Viaje is an initiative of two young women united by cancer. After their experience with the disease, they create the Foundation to collect funds for the research of oncology treatments and to help young people with cancer.
