Eva Colás of the Biomedical Research in Gynecology Group of the VHIR has been in charge of doing the "pitch" with which MIMARK has been finalist in the IMAGINE IF! contest held in Barcelona on the 5th of March.

The MIMARK project has managed to participate in the Health Horizons Conference that will take place on June 26-27 in Cambridge thanks to the second position achieved in the contest IMAGINE IF!.MIMARK, previously called CEMARK, is being developed by the http://en.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?s=recerca&contentid=186717 Biomedical Research in Gynecology group of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and by the Gynecology Department of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital that is directed by Dr. Antonio Gil. MIMARK is based on the identification of protein markers present in the fluid of the uterine aspirates. As explained by Dr. Colás, the main researcher of the Biomedical Research in Gynecology Group of the VHIR"since the amount of cells that contains the uterine fluid that is obtained by aspiration is insufficient for a precise diagnosis, we set out to look for the information in its own fluid because it is in contact with the tumor. Thus, we were able to determine biomarkers with a high sensitivity and specificity for the differential diagnosis, one of the greatest clinical challenges of this disease. "IMAGINE IF! is a global program to promote startups based on health science. The aim of IMAGINE IF! is that these companies in early stages, can get tools and ideas to enhance themselves from workshops, industry mentors, and networking opportunities. And at the same time it is also a contest, For 2 months, 9 startups in which MIMARK was one of them, have been working to improve their business plans. On the 5th of March, the finals of IMAGINE IF were celebrated in the Movistar Center of Barcelona. The contestants had to make a "pitch" of 3 minutes in front of the jury and the audience about the strengths of their products and their company models. The BIEL GLASSES project won the first prize and, apart from an economic grant, it will be able to participate in the world's finals of IMAGINE IF! at the Health Horizons Conference in Cambridge. The MIMARK and AORTYX projects as the second best projects will also be able to participate in the Health Horizons Conference on June 26-27.
