Móra d’Ebre raises over 8,500 euros for child cancer research

Móra d'Ebre and the nearby towns, Benissanet and Miravet, have raised 8.543 euros for research against child cancer. All the funds were collected the second weekend of November, and will be donated to the Translational Research in Child and Adolescent Cancer group of Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR).The fundraising activities were organized by the new association called 'https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100010435631801&fref=nf" Matem lo bitxo', funded by a group of people sharing the same concern: the need to advance in child cancer research. After the successful solidarity catwalks that they organized this year and last year in Miravet, Benissanet and Móra d'Ebre, they decided to make more activities and to fund the association. "Many of us have lived very closely this disease and that's why we think that it is crucial to advance in research, in order to find new solutions for patients", says Anna Bibiloni, one of the founders of the association. The response to the activities was great: many habitants of Móra d'Ebre and the nearby towns participated in the different events, and more than 80 private entities, as well as the city council, supported the campaign. Among the different activities, they organized a Padel tournament, a popular 5km walk, and the open lunch 'la clotxa' in which more than 1,200 people participated.Dr. Miguel Segura, in behalf of the Translational Research in Child and Adolescent Cancer group and the Oncohematology Service at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, led both by Dr. Josep Sánchez de Toledo, received the check. All the funds raised will be exclusively used for research against child cancer at VHIR.
