The VHIR opened the doors of their laboratories for one of the itineraries. Visitors were also able to go to the hospital and the CEMCAT.

On 22 and 23 October more than 200 people visited the Vall d'Hebron Hospital Campus in the context of the 48h Open House Barcelona, the program that brings people closer to the architecture of the city of Barcelona. The Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) participated in one of the two circuits programmed to show the laboratories of the Mediterrània Building and the High Technology Unit (UAT).VHIR's visit was made possible thanks to the Lab Coordination voluntaries, Helena Ramal, Núria Prim and Eulàlia Joseph, who did a guided tour of the Institute, explaining the importance of research to improve the future of health and care. VHIR's itinerary offered a workshop at the High Technology Unit, where its head, Dr. Rosa Prieto showed live how researchers use latest generation microscopes to get very precise images. In addition to this workshop, Dr. Maria Jesús Cruz, head of the Pneumonology group of VHIR, told the audience the research conducted on respiratory diseases and tested lung capacity of some of the participants, comparing the result with that of smokers, passive smokers or non-smokers.In addition to VHIR, the campus also opened the Centre for Multiple Sclerosis (CEMCAT) designed without barriers for these patients, the new Surgical Centre recently opened and the roof of the general building, where they could enjoy stunning views of the city while listening to the story of the building. https://storify.com/hvhebron/48-hores-open-house-al-campus-vall-d-hebron?utm_source=embed_header Want to know what they said about us?
