The grant is endowed with 10,000 euros that will fund her project with the aim to identify, using functional neuroimaging techniques such as PET-FDG and magnetic resonance, the areas and brain networks that may present an altered connectivity in patients with migraine."We expect to determine brain activation patterns that could be useful to classify patients according to the frequency of their migraine attacks", says Dr. Torres. The study will also help researchers to better understand the mechanisms involved in the evolution of the disease and the treatment response. This research could represent a major step towards the diagnosis and treatment of this disease that affects the 20% of the Spanish population. Besides, Dr. Torres highlights that "the grant will be a good training for me as a researcher and will contribute to improve patients' life".On the other hand, Dr. Molina has been awarded with the Dr. Josep Font Award, endowed with 1,000 euros for the project "Randomized trial of posaconazole and benznidazole for chronic Chagas disease", published in The New Journal of Medicine.
