27/03/2017 Nanotechnology at the Saló de l’Ensenyament guided by VHIR 27/03/2017 Dr. Victor Puntes, head of the Research Group on Pharmacokinetic Nanoparticles of the VHIR, approached the biomedical research to all those attending Salo de l'Enseyament. The Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) was present this Saturday morning in the Saló de l'Ensenyament (Teaching Convention), to bring the reality of biomedical research. It was in the place that the http://cerca.cat/en/" CERCA Institution had in the "https://twitter.com/search?src=typd&q=%23espaiciencia2017" Espai Ciència" (Science Space), a corner of the convention dedicated to making science compelling with the aim of promoting scientific vocations among young people.VHIR put on the table, literally, the various applications that the nanotechnology has in the field of biomedicine. Dr. Víctor Puntes, head of the http://en.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?s=recerca&contentid=186993 Research Group of Pharmacokinetic Nanoparticles, was synthesizing nanoparticles of gold and silver, as described to the visitors what was the process that he was following and what applications have in the field of health. For example, discovering how the gold nanoparticles are a key ingredient in home pregnancy tests, or explaining the properties of silver nanoparticles that, synthesized, are a drug release system or from bacteriocidal ions for disinfection and preservation of food. A workshop that combines disciplines such as chemistry, physics and biology, all disciplines present at the Institute. In addition to the workshop, visitors were able to ask about how to develop a career in the field of biomedical research, discovering that there are many profiles that are involved and that the research groups, like those of VHIR, are very interdisciplinary. The 28th Edition of the Saló de l'Ensenyament has closed doors, one more year, with the majority of visitors' queries about the degrees in biomedical sciences, computer science and education.
