The institute transfers three patents on ictus

On November 26th Raquel Egea, head of the innovation unit at VHIR, presented the strategy of commercialization of patents of the institute, as one success case inside the Network of Spanish health technologies ITEMAS.In her presentation defended the change of vision of the company from provider of licences to adopt a paper of partner in the generation of business on the results. This role can mean the incorporation of the research group to stages to more mature stages of the technology catching new opportunities of exploitation on new technologies or products. She also defended the incorporation of the company to finance part of the investigation. This 'guided financing' will contribute to a better approach of the coherent results of investigation with the competitive strategy of the company, with a major guarantee of transfer and a consistent saving of the expenses derived from the request and management of the patents. This positioning was exemplified by Raquel from from a practical case where VHIR transferred three patents on diagnosis and forecast of ictus from the neurovascular diseases group directed by Dr. Joan Montaner to the company GENDIAC in exchange for a royaltie on sales and a collaboration in the development of the Kit. This collaboration in the development can generate new patents of which VHIR would have again rights of ownership and exploitation.
