The Viladecans Padel Club and Lörd Padel have raised 3,000 euros for the research led by Dr. Francisco Guarner at VHIR.

1 week. 192 couples. More than 200 matches. A lot of fun and solidarity. The tournament organized by the http://juferviladecans.com/index.aspx" Viladecans Padel Club and the company http://www.lordpadel.es/" Lörd Padel, from the 9th to the 16th of January, was a success! 3,000 euros were raised for research in ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease led by Dr. Francisco Guarner at the Physiology and Pathophysiology of the Digestive Tract group at Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR).Behind the tournament's organization there are two patients who perfectly know the consequences of these inflammatory bowel diseases. Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are two conditions of the gut that can be severe if they are not properly treated. These conditions are neither hereditary nor infectious: they are inflammatory diseases that affect the wall of the gut. Dr. Guarner alerts that "its incidence is growing rapidly in societies with high economic and social development as Spain, where we find children and teenagers suffering these chronic diseases that precise continuous treatment, worsen their quality of life and condition their life course".Despite the last advances in research, there is no cure for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease yet. Dr. Guarner appreciates the efforts of the participants of the padel tournament, because they are contributing to the research of new treatments to cure these diseases.
