23/07/2025

El informe incluye los datos y los resultados científicos e institucionales más destacados del centro durante el año.

The Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) has published the annual report, a compilation of the main scientific and institutional achievements of 2024. The report features images, videos and interactive graphics that bring dynamism and make the most important data and news of the year more accessible. This new edition has a new visual design, inspired by the architecture and spaces of the new research building.

The Annual Report begins with an editorial by Dr. Begoña Benito, VHIR director, who highlights the main milestones of the institution during 2024.

The report includes the most relevant data of the centre's activity during 2024, such as indicators of scientific production, clinical trials, human resources, innovation, finances and the work of the research support units. More than 1,500 scientific publications were published, with 31.38% of them in the first decile. Throughout the year, 208 national and international competitive grants were obtained to promote research projects and provide funding for human resources. In clinical research, 241 new studies were initiated, reaching 1,028 active studies, with a special focus on trials in paediatrics and minority diseases.

The annual report has some narrative sections which emphasise the inauguration of the new research building and the celebration of VHIR's 30th anniversary. It also explains the renewal of the accreditation of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III as Accredited Health Research Institute - Vall d'Hebron University Hospital and highlights VHIR's impulse in the use of artificial intelligence in biomedical research. In addition, the report includes a more detailed summary of the most outstanding international research projects of the year, and data from the Paediatric Research Hub.

Next, the report presents a summary of the activity of the research groups organised according to their affiliation to the different eCOREs.

Finally, there are five videos dedicated to the most outstanding publications of the year, selected according to the votes of the Internal Scientific Committee. There is also a summary of the main news of the year, both scientific and institutional.
