President of EMEA/LatAm Diagnostics visit VHIR

A delegation of Roche led by Dr. Michael Heuer, President of EMEA/LatAm Diagnostics, visited on Friday March 11 Vall d'Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR) facilities, where met with representatives of management and hepatic diseases research group at VHIR. The meeting, which began with an interview with the manager of Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, Dr. José Luis de Sancho, has dealt with the collaboration between both organizations, in particular with the project 'Study of quasispecies of hepatitis viruses B and C (HBV and HCV) and genomic polymorphisms associated with response to antiviral therapy by pyrosequencing', and other present and immediate future strategies under consideration by both parties.By Roche, in addition to Dr. Heuer, were also the General Manager Roche Diagnostitcs Spain and Head of Sub-region LatAm, Jaime Vives, the Director Centralized Diagnostics Spain, Javier Barreiro, Director Business Development Sparin, Dr. Artur Palet, and the sales manager of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, Jordi Ximenis. On behalf of VHIR, its director, Dr. Joan Comella, presented an overview of hospital and its research, and Dr. Juan Ignacio Esteban Mur, head of the research line in hepatitits C, molecular biology, immune response and treatment of VHIR, has explained the keys "http://www.vhir.org/salapremsa/mitjans/mitjans_detall.asp?any=2011&num=49&mv1=5&mv2=1&Idioma=en&titol=VHIR's+research+facilitates+th" of the cited study, in which are working VHIR and Ciberehd in collaboration with Roche Diagnostics. Also attended the visit, Dr. Jaume Guardia, head of the hepatic disease group at VHIR, Dr. Josep Quer, of the same group, and Dr. Francisco Rodríguez Frías, head of the research line in diagnostics of viral hepatitis.The meeting has been completed with a visit to the laboratories of both Collserola and Mediterrània buildings, especially the latter, where they visited the Genome Sequencer FLX System (GS-FLX), that works in the Technical and Scientific Support Unit (UCTS) of VHIR since July 2009, and is basic on the study coordinated by Dr. Esteban Mur.
