The Princess of Asturias presents a cancer research grant from the AECC to Dr. Reventós

Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias, Letizia Ortiz, permanently President of Honor of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) has presented the Cancer Research Grants awarded by the Science Foundation of the AECC in the institutional event that has taken place in Zaragoza. One of the grants presented by the Princess of Asturias was for the program "Molecular alterations associated with tumor progression in endometrial cancer" presented by the Research Unit in Biomedicine and Translational and Pediatric Oncology at Vall d'Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR), with Dr. Jaume Reventós as coordinator. Each program is endowed with € 1,200,000 for 5 years, enhancing the continuity of research funded and bringing stability to the coordination between groups.The other grant of this category went to the Hepatic Oncology Group at Hospital Clinic, coordinated by Josep Maria Llovet, which will study the molecular classification of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. During the act also was granted the award "V de Vida" which annually grants AECC to all persons or institutions who have excelled in the fight against the disease. This year's award in the category of science was for one of the greatest exponents in cancer research worldwide: Dr. Joan Massagué responsible for the discovery of the mechanisms of metastasis.
