Systemic Diseases research group of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and the Allergology Section of the Hospital Vall d'Hebron, has received the award for the best poster presentation at the International Symposium on Molecular Allergology http://www.eaaci.org/focused-meetings/isma-2017" ISMA 2017, organised by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), held on November9th, in Luxembourg.The poster includes recent research on the profile to raise awareness of the Mediterranean population in the protein carriers of crossed-reactive carbohydrate determinants (CCD), a type of the hydrates of carbon partially responsible for false positives in serological tests for the diagnosis of allergic sensitization. The study has published the frequency in which patients have presented IgE antibodies against these proteins associated with the CCD, important information for the correct interpretation and diagnosis.Molecular diagnostic in AllergyMolecular Allergy techniques allow allergic patients' diagnosis, differentiating the reactions featured due to a genuine reaction to an allergen, or sensitivity to cross-reactive phenomena. In addition, it allows to know the risk markers to present serious allergic reactions, and the generation of more accurate measurements carrying out preventive measures, induction of oral tolerance or specific immunotherapy.
