Research will become very important in the future transformation of Vall d'Hebron

The Catalonian regional Minister of Health, Marina Geli, the mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, and the general manager of Vall d'Hebron Universitary Hospital (HUVH), Dr. José Luis de Sancho, presented a protocol signed by the Health Department and the City of Barcelona to guarantee, from now until 2020, transformation, evolution and growth of HUVH. The first step and sole purpose of the protocol will be 35,000 m2 for domestic use in the fields of Teixonera, to help spread and improve service to citizens and comfort in the hospital grounds. The expansion will not involve a transfer of venue, but an increase of existing facilities.During the presentation of the protocol the regional minister explained that the land dedicated to the research previews that in 2020 has to move from the present 5,770 to more than 38,000 m2, most of them located in the vicinity at the top of hospital on the grounds of Maria Auxiliadora and the surrounding facilities. This important increase is part of the construction project of Vall d'Hebron Oncology Institute (VHIO) and the development of Bio-Health Research Park, promoted by Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), that will be a reality in the coming years.
