02/07/2013 Researchers from VHIR and BSC seek to advance towards personalized medicine with bioinformatics 02/07/2013 Vall d’Hebron has hosted the first meeting of both institutions to detect opportunities of collaboration Vall d’Hebron has hosted the meeting "http://www.vhir.org/activitats/relacioactivitats_detall.asp?Idioma=en&mv1=4&mv2=1&mh1=0&mh2=0&mh3=0&mh4=0&ms=0&any=2013&num=148&RSS=" "Advancing towards personalized medicine: the role of bioinformatics", organized by Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB). The aim of the session was to talk about research in bioinformatics done at both centers in order to find possible projects of collaboration. Dr. Xavier de la Cruz, head of the Translational Bioinformatics in Neurosciences at VHIR, explains that there are two essential collaboration ways: “economics collaboration, to optimize resources, and scientific cooperation, because science is so heterogeneous that thinking that a group can comprise everything is unreal”. According to Dr. Modesto Orozco, Life Sciences Director and head of the Molecular Modeling and Bioinformatics group at BSC, with this meeting “VHIR researchers not only have learnt our technologic potential, but also the scientific. In fact, we have some research lines which can be complemented very well with those followed at VHIR”. Twitter LinkedIn Facebook Whatsapp
