On January 27, 2025, our center, the Fundació Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron-Institut de Recerca (VHIR), suffered a security incident in which your data could have been affected. It has been detected that in the mentioned incident, the confidentiality of some data of employees, collaborators and people linked to VHIR could have been compromised, due to unauthorized access to the information system. Specifically, the data that has been compromised is only identifying data, such as name, surname and ID, and contact information, such as email or telephone. No financial data or health data is affected, and neither has the subjects information in research projects in which VHIR participates, nor of potential donors or friends of VHIR, been exposed. Likewise, VHIR has immediately taken corrective technical measures to solve and mitigate its impact. In this regard, to avoid possible identity theft and loss of confidentiality of data, a complaint has been filed with the Mossos d'Esquadra, a communication has been made to the Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT), as well as to the Catalunya Cybersecurity Agency, which is supporting us in the implementation of the appropriate measures. We are not aware of any improper use of these, but it is recommended that, if you belong to one of the indicated groups, you pay special attention to possible information that may reach you by email or mobile terminals, to avoid possible identity theft.
