In this second edition, the benefits of Corre en Gran will be entirely allocated to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) research carried out by the research group of the http://en.vhir.org/web_vhir/portal1/grup-equip.asp?s=recerca&contentid=186928 Peripheral Nervous System of the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR).GambadersEvents is a project that want to use sports and teamwork with a solidary purpose and to achieve this, they organize sports events outside the penitentiary center in which as many people as possible can participate with this race.There is no need to be professional runner to sign up to http://www.correengran.cat/ Corre en Gran. There are tree route options: 10 km designed for amateur and professional athletes, 5km that can be done running or walking, And 1 km to run as a family with the kids. The registration's costs for the 10 km race is 15 euros, for the 5 km the contribution is 12 euros and for the family race (1 km) are 3 euros per adult and 3 euros for each child. The takings of the race will go to the ALS investigation, a neurodegenerative disease caused by the death of motoneurons or motor neurons of the brain and spinal cord. The progression is very fast and the life expectancy is less than 5 years. Currently there is no drug available to cure or stop the disease. The researchers who are part of the Peripheral Nervous System group of the VHIR and the Neurology Service of Vall d'Hebron, have been dedicated more than 20 years to the research and the clinical service of ALS and other diseases such as spinal muscular atrophy, myasthenia gravis, inheritable myopathies or peripheral neuropathies.
