24/03/2011 The Spanish Society of Neurology rewards VHIR's clinical neuroimmunology group 24/03/2011 Three researchers from the clinical neuroimmunology group at VHIR, led by Dr. Xavier Montalban, have received awards from the Spanish Society of Neurology. Dr. Manuel Comabella has been recognized with Biogen Idec Award for best work on Demyelinating Diseases by “Cerebrospinal fluid chitinase 3-like 1 levels area associated with conversion to multiple sclerosis", published in 'Brain' and presented to the awards for contributions to the scientific quality of the society. Dr. Herena Eixarch has won the Novartis Award for the best poster on demyelinating diseases with the communication “Disminución de la respuesta Th17 por inhibición de Delta-like ligand-4 en un modelo animal de esclerosis múltiple”, presented at the annual meeting of the society. Finally, Dr. Sunny Malhotra has received the Novartis Award for best oral communication about demyelinating diseases for “Comparación in vitro de la especificidad para los interferones (IFN) de tipo I de varios marcadores de bioactividad del IFN-beta”, also presented at the annual meeting of the Spanish Society of Neurology.
