Spanish young researchers in cancer share experiences at Vall d'Hebron

During two days they will promote joint projects in the third meeting of the RTICC.

Nearly 140 young researchers attached to the ‘Red Temática de Investigación Cooperativa en Cáncer' (RTICC), the Spanish network for research in Oncology, are joined at Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron in order to expose the results obtained during the last two years, and share experiences, knowledge and technology.The coordinator of the RTICC’s mobility and training program, Dr. Luis Montega, opened the meeting encouraging researchers to collaborate openly in joint projects. On that point, agreed Dr. José J. Navas, general manager at HUVH, who also aimed young scientists to reach the maximum competitiveness to attract international funds. In this third edition, researchers have exposed nearly 50 posters and have prepared 20 "http://www.vhir.org/DDGRecerca/DOCENCIAACTIVITATS/2012/2012_0249/2012_0249_001.pdf" oral communications. Representing VHIR, there are three researchers from the Unit in Biomedicine and Translational and Pediatrics Oncology, led by Dr. Jaume Reventós, who has also participated in the organization of the meeting. Aroa Soriano is presenting “Microrna-based therapy for high risk neuroblastoma”, Marta Garcia “Identification of differential genomic and proteomic profiles associated with bone metastases in prostate cancer”, and Marta Llauradó “ETV5 and FOXM1 transcription factors are overexpressed in ovarian cancer and regulate cellular adhesion and proliferation contributing to tumor dissemination”.
