Successful first edition of the Innovation Contest

The technical committee has already selected the finalists, among the 39 projects submitted

The technical committee of representatives from the Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Unit at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), the Nursing Management area at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, Biocat, Ysios, the medical board of Barcelona, RCD, Trifermed, Arvor and Metasbio, has selected the 16 finalists of Vall d’Hebron’s Innovation Contest. In this first edition, 39 projects have been submitted. Among the 10 finalists of the general category, 3 are from the nanomedicine area, 2 from the endocrinology and nephrology area, 1 from the neurosciences area, 1 from the gynecology and pediatrics diseases and experimental surgery area, and 3 from other groups. In this category, there are 8 research projects and 2 assistance projects. Regarding the 6 nursing finalists, come from the areas of management, care assistance to critically ill patients, atention to the surgery process and physiotherapy. Finalists will have to send a technical report of their project before December 1, and winners will be announced on February 13th. The first prize is 5,000 euros for each category, and there are two consolation prizes of 2,500 euros for each category. The Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Unit at VHIR has organized this contest sponsored by Roche, with the aim to detect the knowledge generated in the labs and the hospital, in order to monitor it, protect it and transfer it to the market.
