Successful visits to VHIR laboratories of La Marató

Various groups of citizens invited by La Marató Foundation got to know from the hand of researchers the laboratories and projects, a closer look to the world of biomedical research.

During this yearhttp://www.tv3.cat/marato/es/" La Marató of TV3 and the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) have organized four visits that have enabled to teach different groups of citizens some of the research projects funded thanks in part to their contributions. In total, 75 people have had a closer look at the projects awarded grants by La Marató and have visited the laboratories, where the work of researchers from Vall d'Hebron Campus is developed.Doctors who have participated in visits were involved in the last celebrations of La Marató: the 2011, on regeneration and transplantation of organs and tissues, La Marató 2012, against cancer, edition 2013, on neurodegenerative diseases and La Marató 2014, on heart disease. During these visits, the researchers were able to bring their studies and the world of science to society. From VHIR participated Dr. Miquel Vila, Dr. Antonio Gil Moreno, Dr. Beatriz Mínguez, Dr. Ibane Abasolo, Dr. Joan Montaner, Dr. Alejandro Bustamante, Dr. David García Dorado, Dr. Antonio Rodríguez Sinovas, Dr. Marisol Ruiz and Dr. Anna Santamaria. From the CEMCAT, Dr. Xavier Montalbán, Dr. Mar Tintoré, Dr. Jaume Sastre, Dr. Jordi Río and Dr. Manuel Comabella.The visitors, who were invited by La Marató Foundation, appreciated the visit and have found it very interesting. They also highlighted the opportunity they have had to learn about research centres, the biomedical world and vocational work of scientists.
