The patient’s family has raised over 5,600€ by organizing different events

The Vinaròs city council and the neighbors of this Valencian town are actively involved in the fundraising campaign launched by Didac's family, a two year-old boy who was born with a Primary Immune Deficiency (PID), a rare disease caused by alterations in the immune system. During the last couple of months, the family has raised over 5,600 euros by organizing a solidarity market, 4 concerts, a magic show and a solidarity calendar. At the same time, they are collecting plastic caps in order to raise funds to encourage research in this field at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), and to raise awareness on the severity of these pathologies that caused the death of Juan, Didac’s elder brother. "http://www.acadip.org/ca.html" The Catalan Association of PID (ACADIP) and the police union of Madrid also support the fundraising campaign by directing the donations through "http://www.faigrecerca.org/colabora-vhir-donacio.php?id=27" 'Yo Investigo'. At VHIR, the research group in Infection in Immunocompromised Pediatric Patients, led by Dr. Concepción Figueras, and the group in Immunology, headed by Dr. Ricard Pujol, investigate these disorders with the cooperation of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Unit at HUVH. This unit has positioned the hospital in the forefront of the health-care assistance to patients with PID, with nearly 700 patients diagnosed.
