The team of Nursery and Physiotherapy of the Stroke Unit of Vall d'Hebron, has been awarded at the XXIV Annual Congress of SEDENE

A group of nurses from the Unit of Stroke of the Hospital Vall d'Hebron and the Research Group in Neurovascular Diseases of Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) has been awarded with the second prize to the best oral communication in the XXIV Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Neurological Nursery (SEDENE) celebrated in Valencia. The work, realized with physiotherapists, is entitled as "Early Mobilization and Interdisciplinary Attention (ENFIS) at the Stroke Unit: Functional Impact and Living Quality after 90 days. It presents a protocol of early mobilization and beginning of the early rehabilitation, determined by the multidisciplinary team (nursery, neurologists, physiotherapists, auxiliary professionals), that treats the patients that enter the unit. It analyses their tolerance, types and evolution during the stage in the hospital, as well as their life quality, results in a functional level and survival after 90 days. The team of Valley of Hebron has presented four more oral communications and the following summed up poster: - Evaluation of the acquired knowledge with the degree of knowledge purchased with the App "Stroke Prevention App". Implemented in the Unit of Stroke to support the sanitary education in patients that have suffered a stroke. Its use has showed an increase of the knowledge of the treatment, the risk factor and the early detection of the symptomatology of a stroke. It proves that technological innovations can contribute to achieve better results in health.- Implementation of a protocol of nursery cares for the early detection of pseudoaneurisms. Due to the increase of patients with stroke treated by endovascular thrombectomy, and the detection of complications related with the puncture point, the Stroke Unit and the Service of Interventionist Neuroradiology of the Hospital Vall d'Hebron, have created a specific protocol of nursery cares for the detection and prevention of adverse events associated to the procedure. This work collects the data of 140 treated patients between February and July of 2017.- Attention of nursery experts to patients "Code Stroke", resulting from the implementation of the protocol of Fast Performance. In this work the presented results come from 603 patients treated in the Fast Performance protocol of patients that arrive through the "Code Stroke" circuit. It is showed a significant decrease in times of treatment in reperfusion and the detailed performance of the nursery section throughout all the process.- Detection of auricular fibrillation in the Stroke Unit by Cardiac Telemetry and its predictive value. The auricular fibrillation (FA) is a frequent cause for stroke and usually undiagnosed. The aim was to evaluate the detection of unknown FA in patients that entered the Stroke Unit by Cardiac Telemetry.- Poster: Systems of cardiac monitoring in the Stroke Unit and effectiveness rate. Introduces the analysis of several detection systems of FA in the Stroke Unit (continuous cardiac telemetry and holter wearable) and exposes the role of nursery among the different kinds of cardiac monitoring. This year 53 summaries for oral communications or posters have applied to the congress. The scientific committee of SEDENE has valued positively the big increase, as for the quality of the scientific work presented and the amount of works.
