The third edition of the VHIR's Scientific Retreat brings together more than 100 researchers

During the meeting, 20 researchers from all scientific areas and various research groups took part.

On November 11 and 12, was held at the hotel El Montanyà (Seva), the 3rd VHIR's Scientific Retreat, where more than 100 researchers and research support staff of the Institute met. During the meeting, 20 researchers from all scientific areas and various research groups took part. The event was divided into three sessions, two on Friday afternoon and one on Saturday noon.The retreat, chaired by Dr. Joan Comella, director of the VHIR, and attended by the manager of the Hospital Vall d'Hebron, Dr. Vicenç Martínez Ibáñez, served to exchange experiences, present new lines of research, present new groups and summarize the global plans of some areas. On this occasion, and completing the presentations of the previous two years to try to voice the entire spectrum of the VHIR research. There were discuss topics such as research into childhood cancer, Parkinson's disease, haemophilia, paediatric infectious diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, bioinformatics, general and reconstructive surgery of the locomotor system, nanomedicine, digestive tumours, irritable bowel syndrome, respiratory insufficiency and sepsis, minority illnesses, growth and development in children, ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease and diabetic microangiopathy.On Saturday morning, the Institute's leadership presented the most outstanding present and future projects, such as the new research building or the group's reference policy. And also, news such as the clinical research map, on the research carried out by the services of the Vall d'Hebron hospital.This year, the guest speaker was Leonie Van Drooge of the Rathenau Institute of the Netherlands, who presented 'From a promise of relevance to a practice of engagement', in relation to one of the new projects that the VHIR will develop from now on, the Responsible Research & Innovation (RRI).
