The journal 'Diario Médico' reviews the activity of the circulatory disease, and in general the area of the heart, directed by Dr. David Garcia-Dorado at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). The group, considered of international scientific excellence and reference, add a large number of publications in leading journals and also performs translational research based on clinical, laboratory and epidemiology, as well as new knowledge in molecular and genetic problems of the age. Its aim is to develop markers and diagnostic methods by the image, and therapies going from drugs to telemedicine. Dr. Garcia-Dorado, who heads a group of 20 people, says that "we have a significant competitive funding and are involved in two European projects and others of Ministry of Science in fundamental research and healthcare. In addition, we have presented an European patent for a biomarker to detect whether patients have acute coronary syndrome on those suspected of suffering from the disease, and we are in phase of generation of other patents".
