Two professionals from VHIR, one from VHIO and another one form CEMCAT among the candidates for Spanish Medicine Ambassadors of the Diario Médico

Four professionals from Vall d'Hebron among the shortlisted in Catalonia: Dr. Miquel Casas and Dr. Josep Sánchez de Toledo from VHIR, Dr. Xavier Montalban from the CEMCAT, and Dr. Josep Tabernero from VHIO.

normal1 Four professionals linked to the Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus, two of Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), are among the 11 shortlisted in Catalonia by Diario Médico as candidates for Spanish Medicine Ambassadors. An initiative that this publication has launched on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. normal1 Dr. Miquel Casas, Dr. Josep Sánchez de Toledo, Dr. Xavier Montalban and Dr. Josep Tabernero have been selected by a panel of collegiate experts from more than 40,000 Catalan members. State-wide have been chosen one hundred professionals of which, by popular vote through the website of http://bit.ly/2sGGno0" Diario Médico, will be selected the finalists, two for each autonomous region. Finally, a jury of experts will select the 25 ambassadors. Voting will continue until October. normal1 This award aims to recognize the work and dedication of health professionals and appreciate their work and career. Not only will distinguish leading figures in the field of healthcare and research, but also those who embody the values of humanitarian medicine. normal1 Dr. Miquel Casas normal1 He is head of the http://bit.ly/2tR6d8I" research group of Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions at VHIR and was the head of the Psychiatry Department at Vall d'Hebron. His role in care is focused in addiction psychiatry, impulsivity, and behavioural and personality disorders. He is a principal investigator of the G-27 group of CIBERSAM of the Institute Carlos III, a member of the advisory boards of Psychiatry and Mental Health and Public Health of the Department of Health and president of the Spanish Society of Dual Pathology. Since 1996 he is Professor of Psychiatry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. normal1 Dr. Josep Sánchez de Toledo normal1 He is the head of the http://bit.ly/2bbqnlU" Translational Research group in Cancer in Children and Adolescents at VHIR and the current coordinator of the Oncology Network of Catalonia. He was also the head of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Service at Vall d'Hebron and professor of Paediatrics at UAB. In 1984 he introduced in country the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in children. Has contributed to the creation of the National Registry of Tumours and the Children's Tumour Registry of Catalonia. In 2012 he was chosen Catalan of the Year and in 2015 received the Medal Josep Trueta in recognition of his work for the progress and improvement of health. normal1 Dr. Xavier Montalban normal1 He directs the http://bit.ly/1R5O33X" Multiple Sclerosis Centre of Catalonia (CEMCAT) and is the head of the Neurology-Neuroimmunology Service of Vall d'Hebron. He is also the head of the http://bit.ly/2uKBMxy" Neuroimmunology Research Group of VHIR, director of the Chair of Neuroimmunology of CEMCAT and professor at the Faculty of Medicine at UAB. He was recently appointed director of the Division of Neurology at the University of Toronto. At the same time, he is author and reviewer of more than 300 articles in scientific journals, focusing on multiple sclerosis and is a member of the editorial boards of several publications. normal1 Dr. Josep Tabernero normal1 He combines the direction of http://bit.ly/13cJj75" Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) with the one of the Medical Oncology Service at Vall d'Hebron and leadership in research and innovation in the Catalonia Oncology Network. He is responsible for the Research Unit on Molecular Cancer Therapy at Vall d'Hebron. At the same time, he is the president elected of the http://bit.ly/1Iwa4UD" European Society for Medical Oncology for the period 2018-2019. He has participated as an author in 250 articles in international indexed journals and is member of several editorial boards. In 2017 he received the Medal Josep Trueta in recognition of his work in the field of medical research.
