Dr. Eduard Diogène is the chair of the http://www.sefcbarcelona2016.es/" XXIX Congress of the Spanish Society of Clinical Pharmacology (SEFC), which take place on 20 and 21 October in the Teaching Pavilion of Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus. The aim of the meeting is to strengthen the role of national clinical pharmacologists in the development of clinical research. In particular, it will focus on the effectiveness, safety and efficiency of new medicines and their role in clinical management for the introduction of new drugs in the National Health System.According to Dr. Diogène, the conference will allow experts to disseminate their role in "the generation of useful knowledge about drug therapy for clinical practice and clinical management of the use of medicines in the National Health System".For the president of the society, Dr. Cristina Avendaño Solá, this conference is being held at a moment of "passionate discussion and review of both drug research policies and access to new drugs."Besides the Congress, as a novelty this year, it has been celebrated the first National Meeting of Ethics Committees for Research with Medicines and Medical Devices. In the meeting, authorities, clinical trial sponsors, researchers, organizations and scientific societies showed their approval to the adaptation of the ethics committees to the Real Decreto 1090/2015, 4th December.
