Vall d’Hebron partners with one of Australia’s largest universities across health and innovation

As a result of this alliance, Vall d'Hebron will incorporate an interactive audiovisual table to carry out research and innovative treatments in neurological patients.

Innovative therapy by Australian researchers to help with brain injury rehabilitation is being added to Vall d'Hebron University Hospital's simulation and research equipment as part of a new agreement between the hospital and RMIT University, one of Australia's largest universities. This innovation consists of an interactive audiovisual table top that has shown clinical benefits in neurological patients and that will offer the opportunity for research and innovative treatment at the Vall d'Hebron Campus. The aim is to integrate these interactive tools in a simulation room at Vall d'Hebron Hospital. In addition, Vall d'Hebron University Hospital and RMIT have also partnered up to deliver an Urban Health Forum this week in Barcelona. The one-day event on 5 October has attracted public sector workers, industry and researchers from across Europe and will address challenges and opportunities across key urban health initiatives.Topics include how design and infrastructure are used to develop healthy communities and cities as well as a focus on the way technology can support urban health and associated services. RMIT Europe's Executive Director Marta Fernandez said the collaboration with Vall d'Hebron University Hospital highlights the Australian university's commitment to research across health innovation and technology in Europe."Our partnership draws on RMIT's research strengths across design and creative practice as well as biomedical and health innovation. We are thrilled with this new partnership with Vall d'Hebron University Hospital and look forward to exploring further opportunities for collaboration", she said.Dr Vicenç Martínez Ibáñez, General Manager at Vall d'Hebron Hospital Campus, said the agreement with such a prestigious institution as RMIT "will allow for knowledge, staff and experience exchange as well as event collaboration and the co-development of new spaces and solutions to face future challenges in health".
