02/05/2017 Vall d'Hebron-PROSICS attends to the World Partners Meeting on Neglected Tropical Diseases of WHO 02/05/2017 The invitation to participate in the WHO assembly is given in recognition of the important work that has been done from Vall d'Hebron-PROSICS The manager of the Hospital Vall d'Hebron, Dr. Vicenç Martínez, and doctors Jordi Gómez and Israel Molina, coordinator and director, respectively, of the Unit of Tropical Medicine and International Health of the http://bit.ly/1bNA944 International Health Program ICS (PROSICS) and researchers at the http://bit.ly/2piI8Tv Infectious Diseases Research Group of Vall Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) attended the second World Partners Meeting on Neglected Tropical Diseases organized by the WHO, which took place on 19 April in Geneva, Switzerland.The invitation to participate in the WHO assembly is given in recognition of the important work that has been done from Vall d'Hebron-PROSICS and is still being done in the fight against neglected tropical diseases.The event was attended by health ministers and representatives of Member States, donor agencies, foundations, the private sector and academia.During the meeting, the WHO's fourth global report on Neglected Tropical Diseases was presented and addressed issues such as the recognition of the achievements of the last decade, the need to maintain aid for achieving the goals set for 2020 in the WHO's roadmap and appealed to partners to once overcome that date continue providing resources to the cause.Vall d'Hebron-PROSICSThe PROSICS Barcelona was founded in 2012 as a result of the union of the Unit for Tropical Medicine and International Health Drassanes, which works since 1983 and the Tropical Pathology Unit of the Infectious Diseases Service of the Vall d'Hebron Hospital, in operation since 2008. It is part of the International Health Program of the Catalan Institute of Health (PROSICS).Works within the field of Tropical Medicine and International Health, understood as the discipline that provides expert assistance with a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to people with tropical diseases, which promotes the teaching and translational research, also promotes the development of Community Health as well as the implementation of public health strategies, and aims to improve access to quality health care both in our country and internationally, while maintaining a commitment to scientific bases actions taken.
