28/06/2017 Vall d'hebron, receives a visit from Dr. Juan Guillermo Barrientos, Scientific Director of the Bolivarian University Clinic, in Medellin, Colombia 28/06/2017 Dr. Barrientos was able to verify the excellence of all the services, both Hospital Vall d'Hebron and VHIR. On 6 and 7 June, Dr. Juan Guillermo Barrientos, Scientific Director of the Bolivarian University Clinic, in Medellín, Colombia came to visit the facilities and the services offered by Vall d'Hebron Hospital Campus.His interest comes from the Conference that gave Mr. Francesc Iglesias, Assistant Manager of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital (HUVH) in the Medesalud 2016 Congress which was held in Medellin last October.The first day of the visit, Francesc Iglesias received Dr. Barrientos and made a presentation of the Campus Then, members of Business Development and Innovation of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) were able to introduce Dr. Barrientos to the VHIR's innovation model and its strategy. He also visited the Clinical Laboratory and the functioning of the Academic research organization (ARO) was expleined to him as well as the particularities of the service that they offer to reserchers and business.The second day focused on the visit to the different services that the same Dr. Barrientos asked to know more about, and was able to converse with the different Heads on issues of knowledge, research, research lines, staff, etc. After visiting Obstetrics, Neonatology, Infectious Diseases, Rheumatology and Intensive Medicine, Dr. Barrientos stressed the great capacity of work transversally in both the hospital, and as a network with other leading centres worldwide.In the two days that Dr. Barrientos met the hospital, he was very interested in each of the visits, and was able to see the excellence of all services, both of the HUVH and the VHIR.The Vall d'Hebron Hospital expects that this visit serves to start a strong strategic collaboration with the Bolivarian University Clinic, both in health care issues, and in research, of innovation and transfer of knowledge.
