24/02/2017 Vall d'Hebron Research Institute expands its team getting involved in projects against tuberculosis and Chagas disease 24/02/2017 Vall d'Hebron Research Institute expands its team getting involved in projects against tuberculosis and Chagas disease Since 2013, eSPiC has gradually been integrated as part of the team of http://www.vhebron.net/en/infeccioses infectious diseases at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital/http://en.vhir.org/portal1/area.asp?s=recerca&contentid=186951 Research Institute (VHIR) and PROSICS Barcelona (Program of International Health of ICS). Recently, VHIR has built into the structure of eSPiC health community agents of different origins (Tahir Rafí, Estefa Choque, Abdalah Denial, Eniko Viksai, Omar Diatta and Apolonia Salomon) which act in the communities of sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Indian Subcontinent, North Africa and other Arab countries and Eastern Europe.They take care of the transfer of the Tuberculosis Control program of the Department of health of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and the project of Chagas disease with the Fundación MundoSano. This fact represents a step forward in the involvement of the University Hospital of Vall d'hebron and VHIR in the promotion of health and health education in community health and international health, a long and innovative shot.In all these years, eSPiC has been working for a better approach to the health needs of both individual and family and community levels in the field of International Health and Immigration. It is currently an innovative link between primary care, public health, hospital care and different specialized organizations of civil society.Its main objective is to strengthen strategies to ensure equity in access and care of disadvantaged populations. To achieve this, it is committed to transfer knowledge based on research studies with the community. Work with a structure and an organizational culture of health promotion.eSPiC was born in 1994 with the aim of achieving an equitable, comprehensive and sustainable health care. Hakima Ouaarab Essadek is a nurse in the same program and coordinates the Health Community Agents team of eSPiC. Isabel Claveria Guiu, nurse of the same program, is also part of the team. Over the years, eSPiC has been integrated by different professionals, including doctors, nurses, health community agents, peer educators, administrative, anthropologists and psychologists.
