VHIR achieves a high success rate in the call for ISCIII health research projects

Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is the second Catalan biomedical center with more projects awarded in the call for health research projects in 2011 of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII). VHIR has been granted in 27 of its 55 projects presented, representing 49.09% of the success rate.Among the projects funded include six from the area of neurosciences, three of which belong to the group of neurovascular diseases, 5 from oncology, where 2 are for the Research Unit in Biomedicine and Translational and Pediatric Oncology, 4 of the area of digestive and liver diseases, 3 from the area of respiratory and systemic diseases, 2 from the intensive care group and 1 in the area of the heart, among others. It should be emphasized especially the granting of a INTRASALUD project about stroke biomarker to Dr. Joan Montaner, head of the group of neurovascular diseases.
