06/02/2013 VHIR and FICCB collaborate in research on Congenital Cardiopathies 06/02/2013 Vall d’Hebron will be the reference centre for doctor’s training in cardiopathies diseases Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) and International Foundation on Congenital Cardiopathies of Barcelona (FICCB) have signed today a cooperation agreement between both entities in the congenital cardiopathies in the mother and child area. For the first time in Spain, with this agreement, VHIR will be the European reference centre for doctor’s training and will develop research on cardiopathies diseases, whereas FICCB will finance professional participation on paediatric cardiology in congresses and will organize an international meeting in Barcelona.According to Dr. Joan Comella, VHIR’s director, this agreement “will help Vall d’Hebron University Hospital to become a reference centre in training and research in this area and will allow Dr. Raúl Albella, a reference in congenital cardiopathies, and FICCB to develop and explain their project”.Dr. Alessandro Frigiola, leader in the congenital cardiopathies area, thinks that “is very important this kind of agreements because will make easier that doctors will recieve in three years a high level training that would apply in their origin countries afterword”. Dr. Abella claimed that Vall d’Hebron “has the conditions to lead a training and research programme in the congenital cardiopathies area and overcome the American tradition’.The creator and president of FICCB, Marco di Terlizzi, and VHIR’s director have signed this agreement in the presence of the Honor’s President of the foundation, Jordi Hereu, Dr. Raúl Abella, and Dr. Alessandro Frigiola, cardiovascular surgery’s leader from Hospital San Donato, in Milan.
