Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and the Foundation Step by Step, as part of the annual meeting of its board, have signed a cooperation agreement to promote and support new research in the field of spinal cord injury. Both institutions enable the strengthening of research, with particular attention to translational research, new therapies and regenerative medicine. Also will collaborate in the discussion and dissemination of advances in the field of spinal cord injury by holding conferences and scientific events, and participation in joint projects to develope innovative health interventions.From Vall d'Hebron, which has the only spinal cord injury unit of Catalonia, atended the signing Dr. Miguel Angel González Viejo, head of that unit and also vice president of the Foundation Step by Step, and Dr. Joan X. Comella, director of VHIR. Foundation Step by Step (SbS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the recovery of those with spinal injuries that once have passed the stage of rehabilitation AT hospitals and specialized centers, choose to continue with rehabilitation based on physiotherapy for a better quality of life. From SbS the agreement was ratified by its Founder and President, Frederic Crespo and Dr. Mercè Avellanet, Head of Rehabilitation Hospital Nuestra Señora Meritxell de Andorra and vice president of the foundation. In addition to VHIR, also signed a collaboration agreement with Step by Step the Institute of Biomedical Research of Bellvitge (IDIBELL).
