The Catalan Association of Neuromuscular Diseases has given the FEM Pinya award to the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) for its commitment with research on these diseases. They thanked to the association for their support to the research in these diseases that are the object of study of three groups at VHIR: Dr. Munell's group, led by Dr. Alfons Macaya, the http://www.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?idioma=1&s=recerca&contentid=9071&t=Patologia%20Neuromuscular%20i%20Mitocondrial Neuromuscular and Mitochondrial Pathology group, led by Dr. Ramon Martí, and the http://www.vhir.org/portal1/grup-equip.asp?idioma=1&s=recerca&contentid=9068&t=Sistema%20Nervi%F3s%20Perif%E8ric Peripheral Nervous System group, headed by Dr. Josep Gámez.The aim of ASEM with these awards is to give visibility to their associates, the patients, their families and the professionals who work with them. The association also awarded Dr. Colomer, from Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, and the volunteer Carmen Caja.The ceremony award took place at the Casa del Mar, in Barcelona, on November 14th. The journalist and Catalan actor Roger de Gràcia presented the ceremony that also hosted a solidarity jazz concert, with Gwen Perry and Michele Faber Cuartet.
