21/12/2012 VHIR gets the second place of the top ten research institutes accredited by ISCIII 21/12/2012 ISCIII’s research responsible advices centers to cooperate with each other and to guarantee the generational replacement Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) occupies the second position in the top ten "http://www.isciii.es/ISCIII/es/contenidos/fd-el-instituto/fd-comunicacion/fd-noticias/21Dic2012-Institutos-de-Investigacion-Sanitaria.shtml" ranking of research institutes accredited by the Spanish Health Institute, ‘Instituto de Salud Carlos III’ (ISCIII). The first place is for the ‘Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques Augusto Pi I Sunyer’ (IDIBAPS), and the third for the ‘Instituto de Investigación Hospital Universitario La Paz’ of Madrid. This information is published the same day in which the ISCIII’s responsible of evaluation and development, Dr. Antoni Andreu, has presented at VHIR the strategy to implement in Spain a research model for accelerating the knowledge transfer from basic science to clinical practice, and the political decisions on healthcare. To achieve these objectives, research centers like VHIR must play a key role as a model in translational research and must guarantee the competitiveness of healthcare research, in the framework of the European programme Horizon 2020. Besides, Dr. Andreu has advised centers to keep open all the communication channels to reinforce the cooperation among institutes. Besides, according to ISCIII, another important factor to consolidate a competitive global system in Europe is the attraction of young researchers to guarantee the generational replacement.
