VHIR is holding a Multiple Myeloma patient education event

Top researchers in the disease will explain the latest advances in the treatment of the disease

Multiple myeloma is a cancer that starts at the bone marrow blood cells. In the last few years, important progress has been made in its treatment thanks to research, offering new hope to patients and their families. To report on this advances Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), together with online cancer patients community "http://www.patientpower.info/" Patient Power and the collaboration of the "http://www20.gencat.cat/portal/site/salut/menuitem.d4e38b9cb651e7ec3bfd8a10b0c0e1a0/?vgnextoid=834f0225c538c210VgnVCM2000009b0c1e0aRCRD&vgnextchannel=834f0225c538c210VgnVCM2000009b0c1e0aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default" Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), is holding an educational event for myeloma patients. The "http://www.patientpower.info/oct11" event will take place on Saturday October 11 at Vall d’Hebron Teaching Pavillion from 10 AM.Top researchers will speak at the event, such as Dr Mercè Gironella, Hematology doctor and head of Myeloma research at Hospital Universitary Vall d'Hebron and Dr Francesc Bosch, Head of Onco-Hematology and "http://www.vhir.org/larecerca/grupsrecerca/ca_grups_equip.asp?Idioma=en&mv1=2&mv2=1&mh1=2&mh2=1&mh3=1&mh4=0&ms=0&area=1&grup=17&menu=3" Experimental Hematology Research Group in the VHIR.The goal is that myeloma patients learn about what is being done in research and they can exchange views with other patients and researchers. An oncology nurse and a psycho-oncologist will also advice patients on how to deal with treatment side effects and how to manage emotions during the cancer journey.The researchers that will speak at the event are:- Dr Mercè Gironella. Hematology doctor and head of Myeloma research at Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron since 2010.- Dr Francesc Bosch. Head of Onco-Hematology and Experimental Hematology Research Group in VHIR.- Dr. Albert Oriol. Hematology doctor at Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and "http://www.gencat.cat/ics/germanstrias/" Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol. He is responsible for clinical trials in myeloma and acute leukemia. - Dr María Victoria Mateos. Head of Hematology at "http://www.saludcastillayleon.es/CASalamanca/es" Hospital Universitario de Salamanca and responsible for clinical trials at the "http://gem-pethema.es/drupal/" Myeloma Spanish Group (GEM). , Everyone interested in attending should "http://www.patientpower.info/oct11#register" register first in the event website.
