Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is the Spanish center that has received more funding in the call of grants for the development of independent clinical research 2010 from the Health and Social Policy Ministry. VHIR submitted 18 projects, of which 13 have been accepted to be funded. The amount financed by the sum of the 13 projects is 1,637,382, euros, which places the Vall d'Hebron in first place, over the Hospital Universitario de La Paz, which is the second, and all CAIBER, which occupies the third. The next Catalan hospital in the list is Bellvitge, with less than half of the funding and only one less project accepted than VHIR. These grants fall on different specialties, which confirms the diversity and importance of clinical research in VHIR's project. Among them include the project granted to Dr. Enric Cáceres, funding with 400,000 euros, entitled "Prospective, randomized trial comparing spinal fusion in patients with degenerative spine disease fire, using autologous mesenchymal cells immobilized on particles human bone on the crest autologous". It is also important to stress the support received by Dr. Juan Pedro Barret, 300,000 euros for the project 'Study of the efficacy of Bosentan in the modulation of the inflammatory response and healing in burn patients".
