VHIR participates in the 8th Catalan Conference of Neurological Nursing (SEDENE)

Normal1 Nurses from the http://bit.ly/2pwKcqH Neurovascular Diseases Group at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), represented by Estela Sanjuan, participated in the http://bit.ly/2p283RE" 8th Catalan Conference of Neurological Nursing held at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital on 30 March. Normal1 The http://bit.ly/1ztcBhf" Spanish Society of Neurological Nursing (SEDENE) chose Vall d'Hebron to celebrate this annual meeting which served to analyze and discuss the role of these professionals in the care of patients with neurological disease, focusing on the treatment of stroke and multiple sclerosis. For this reason, the organization was in charge of the http://bit.ly/TeeINW" Stroke Unit of Vall d'Hebron, the centre's Nursing Direction, the http://bit.ly/1R5O33X" Multiple Sclerosis Centre of Catalonia (CEMCAT) and the http://bit.ly/1LUunTD" Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), references at the state level in these diseases. Normal1 The conference was attended by nearly 150 people, the highest attendance ever recorded, from Catalonia and the rest of the country, who took the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss new aspects of the work of nursing in the care of these pathologies. In the field of stroke, it was analyzed its prehospital and hospital handling, considering the acute and critical phase of the episode, as well as ways to reduce the time until the patient is assisted. And in the field of multiple sclerosis, it was about the role of nursing within a unit specialized in this degenerative disease and the need for multidisciplinary teams to care for patients in a comprehensive way throughout the disease process. Normal1 Health education Normal1 One of the important aspects of the SEDENE conference was the attention devoted to the health education of patients. For this reason, among other issues, it was discussed the usefulness of the Virtual Nurse, a tool by the Official School of Nurses of Barcelona designed to promote it. In this regard, Estela Sanjuan, coordinator nurse of investigation in stroke of the Neurovascular Diseases Group of VHIR, spoke about Health education contents for stroke. It was also held an interactive panel debate to discuss aspects of the nursing profession, research, education, support and management. Normal1 Also note that the nursing team from CEMCAT was awarded the best poster presented at the conference to work on the role of nursing in the management of adverse reactions to intravenous treatment. The meeting ended with a visit of the attendees to the facilities of the CEMCAT.
