28/10/2015 VHIR participates in the #GivingTuesday campaign 28/10/2015 Over 60 entities participate in this initiative that will arrive to Catalonia for the first time on December 1st. VHIR researchers will carry out an outreach activity at the Illa Diagonal de Barcelona shopping mall on November 27th. #GivingTuesday, the global day dedicated to giving back, arrives for the first time to Catalonia on December 1rst. It is promoted by 19 non-governmental organizations, among them Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), and social entities with the aim to celebrate and encourage giving, through volunteerism or donations to any of the 180 projects submitted to http://www.givingtuesday.es" www.givingtuesday.es. The movement started 4 years ago in the United States.Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the USA) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Activities at the Illa DiagonalOn Friday 27th of November, VHIR was at the Illa Diagonal shopping mall with open and free outreach activities: music, scientific workshops driven by members of the Research Unit in Gynecology, and several actions of visibility aimed at collecting new donors. There were also fundraisers informing about the possibility to become friends of Vall d'Hebron (we have more than 1,200 friends).
