Between 7 and 9 October, Barcelona hosted the International Biotechnology Meeting BIOSPAIN 2025. El Vall d’Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR) han tingut una presència destacada amb un estand propi i la participació en taules rodones i el Talent Day. Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) had a prominent presence with its own stand and through participation in round tables and the Talent Day. The event was organised by the l’Spanish Bioindustry Association (AseBio) and Biocat, in collaboration with the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council.On 7 and 8 October, VHIR had its own stand to showcase the institution’s research and innovation.Moreover, Rafael Navajo, Director of Innovation and Business Development at VHIR, took part in a round table on opportunities in Spain in the field of preclinical and translational research. Meanwhile, Laia Arnal, Director of Institutional Relations at VHIR, moderated a session on the implementation of artificial intelligence in business and research within the health sector. Albert Barberà, Director of Extenal Strategy at VHIR, also took part of a round table on LGBTIAQ+, where speakers talked about the importance of promoting a diverse and inclusive biotech.Finally, on 9 October, the Talent Day took place — an interactive space designed to connect recruiting companies with professionals from the sector. During this event, leading companies seeking talent met with potential candidates. Estela Villanueva and Telma Segura, Head and Technician of the Talent Attraction and Recruitment Unit at VHIR, conducted 20-minute on-site interviews with candidates interested in VHIR’s vacancies. They also offered guidance on techniques to optimise CVs and strengthen professional development. As part of this initiative, participants had the opportunity to complete recognised psychometric tests and receive a professional interpretation of their results — a key tool to enhance self-awareness and stand out for positions that best fit their profiles.BIOSPAIN 2025BIOSPAIN is the largest biotechnology event in Europe organised by a national bioindustry association, and one of the most important worldwide in terms of one-to-one meetings and participating companies. It brings together biotechnology companies and institutions, regulatory agencies, and leading national and international investors, with the goal of strengthening the role of the biotech industry as a driver of the new healthcare model and a key ally in building strategic autonomy for Spain and Europe in the fields of economy, health, sustainable food, and the green industrial transition. 34% of the delegates come from outside Spain.The 2025 edition was held at Fira de Barcelona – Montjuïc, in Barcelona, the country’s main biotechnology cluster and one of the most dynamic cities in the world. Under the motto “Global crossroads, local vibes”, the programme included around 60 sessions covering the latest advances in genomics, gene editing (CRISPR), oncological therapies and immunotherapies, as well as synthetic biology. It also addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on clinical research, biotechnology applied to regenerative agriculture, and the European regulatory framework for New Genomic Techniques and pharmaceutical legislation.
