A delegation of the Vall d Hebron, Institut de Recerca (VHIR), led by its director, Dr. Joan Comella, visited the facilities of Roche Diagnostics SL, where have met with representatives of management of the company in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona. The meeting, which began with a welcome by Jaime Vives, CEO of Roche Diagnostitcs, had two main themes. One was the proposed strategic partnership between VHIR, Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and Roche Diagnostics Ltd, introduced by Javier Barreiro, Centralized Diagnostics director, and the second was the process of innovation at Roche Diagnostics Ltd, explained by Carlos Freixas, Director Applied Science.Both institutions are moving forward with this meeting their relationship, which was ratified by "http://www.vhir.org/salapremsa/noticies/noticies_detall.asp?any=2011&num=54&mv1=5&mv2=3&Idioma=ca&titol=El+president+de+Roche+EMEA/Lat" a visit from Roche and its president of Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America, Dr. Michael Heuer, to VHIR facilities on March 11, and is materialized in the project "http://www.vhir.org/larecerca/grupsrecerca/ca_grups_equip.asp?area=5&grup=2&mh1=2&mh2=1&mh3=1&mv1=2&mv2=1&menu=3&Idioma=ca" ‘Study of quasispecies of hepatitis viruses B and C (HBV and HCV) and genomic plymorphisms associated with response to antiviral therapy by pyrosequencing’, and other present and immediate future strategies that are being considerated. VHIR’s delegation was completed by Dr. David García-Dorado, president of the Internal Scientific Committee, Francesc Iglesias, director of innovation, Raquel Egea, coordinator of innovation, Lluís Masso, manager, and Fatima Núñez, director of the Scientific-Technical Unit Support (UCTS). By Roche, also were Jordi Fernández-Capo, Director Tissue Diagnostics, Antonio Molina, Director Near Patient Testing, Dr. Artur Palet, Director Business Development, and Jordi Ximenis, Area Manager Centralized Diagnostics.
