27/03/2017 VHIR's research, at the “Portal de Recerca de les Universitats de Catalunya” 27/03/2017 The Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is the first research centre to add their data to the Research Portal of the Universities of Catalonia (Portal de Recerca de les Universitats de Catalunya - PRC) The http://portalrecerca.csuc.cat/?locale=en" Portal de Recerca de les Universitats de Catalunya (PRC) is a tool that collects and disseminates in a single space the results of the research that is carried out at the universities of Catalonia, and, from now on, it will also include research centres. In fact, the http://en.vhir.org/portal1/homepage.asp Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) was the first centre in providing its data. The participation of research centres has been one of the highlights of the PRC since its http://blog.csuc.cat/?p=8502" opening to the public last October. The objective of the PRC is the transfer of knowledge. It is meant to be achieved by facilitating the work of researchers, as it is of open access, and strengthening the processes of data management, as it is based in standard formats that facilitate the re-usage of the data of the universities. It is addressed to the local and international scientific community, as well as to sponsoring companies and organisations. This initiative will allow us to show the potential of the Catalan system as a whole. VHIR has already contributed to PRC with http://portalrecerca.csuc.cat/8072395?locale=en" data of 5,146 publications, 264 principal investigators, 59 research groups, 703 research projects and 8 research areas, the result of more than 20 years in operation. At this time, the institute has achieved leadership in biomedical hospital research in Catalonia promoting biomedical research, innovation and teaching of Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus. It aspires to be recognized in 2020 as a European institute of excellence, competitive leader in clinical and translational research, linked to a university hospital. The load of VHIR's data has been carried out by importing its database using standard CERIF (Common European Research Information Format). The integration of the data has been very fast, in just two months, which was possible because the principal investigators at VHIR already had the ORCID identifier (a prerequisite for participating in the PRC).For VHIR's director, Dr. Joan Comella, the participation in the PRC will allow us to "give more visibility to the research results of our scientific community and to facilitate more international collaborations."The portal has been created by the Secretariat of Universities and Research and coordinated by the Consortium of Scientific and Academic Services of Catalonia (CSUCA), under the direction of a committee of vice presidents of research and scientific policy of the Catalan universities and now also representatives of participating research centres.
