Two researchers at Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) participated this week in the prestigious Summer course of the International University Menéndez y Pelayo (UIMP) of Santander. On one hand, Dr. Francisco Guarner, member of the digestive physiology and physiopathology group, took part in the course that the university organizes every year on nutrition for post-graduated students (dietitians, pharmacists, family doctors, etc.) inside the School of Nutrition 'Francisco Grande Covián', which directs Professor Manuel Serrano Ríos of the Faculty of Medicine from the Universidad Complutense. On the occasion of 10th edition of the summer course this year there was an International Workshop on microbiota and its implications in human health, under the title: HUMANS, MICROBIOTA, AND EVOLUTION. Dr. Guarner spoke on 'Microbiota Dysfunction and Disease" in a meeting where also were Dusko Ehrlich (Coordinator of MetaHIT), and Eric Guillemard, Danone's scientist in Paris.On the other hand, inside the course PRIORITIES IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH AND HEALTH SCIENCE, Dr. Joan Montaner, head of the neurovascular diseases group at VHIR presented the program INTRASALUD and his experience as granted by one of the prestigious projects INTRASALUD of Health Institute Carlos III (ISCIII) to senior researchers that had obtained 3 straight FIS projects in a research line. Administration staff from VHIR attended this course, in which there were discussed the models of management of the biomedical research in Spain.
