Upon completing the course, each student should: Be able to formulate and identify research questions. Be able to identify and understand the basic elements of health science research, particularly those related to epidemiology and biostatistics. Be able to identify and select the most appropriate study designs and describe their value, nature, use and limitations. Be able to critique and summarise the literature produced and research carried out by others, assessing its usefulness for clinical practice and as a future starting point for one’s own research (The Equator Network). Be able to engage with a specialist on specific methodological problems when the complexity of the situation so requires. Who is it aimed at? The Introduction to Statistical Methodology in Health Research course is aimed at people who want to start conducting research in the field of health sciences and have a basic knowledge of statistics. What is the course methodology? The Introduction to Statistical Methodology in Health Research course will be completed online in the Virtual Classroom. It is a self-study course where each student is free to set their own pace. Only the start and end dates are fixed. The student is expected to take 20 hours to go over all the course content.
