I am a pediatric surgeon, and since completing my specialist training I have subspecialized in the surgical treatment of pediatric and adolescent cancer. I am currently section head of the Oncological, Neonatal and Hepatobiliopancreatic Surgery unit of the Pediatric Surgery Department. My goal is to provide comprehensive care to our patients, which meets the highest quality standards, the incorporation of cutting edge technologies and the maximum scientific evidence, from a humanistic approach that puts the patient and their family at the center of care.

Graduated in Medicine from the University of Salamanca, I did my specialty training in Pediatric Surgery at Vall d'Hebron Hospital. Since 2008 I have been part of the Pediatric Surgery department, first as an staff member and currently as head of section.
Between 2008 and 2017 I was also tutor for doctors in training.

My main area of specialization is pediatric surgical oncology, where I have focused most of my clinical practice and research projects, although other areas of my interest are neonatal, hepatobiliary and thoracic surgery.

I have been a member of the European Pediatric Soft Tissue Sarcoma Study Group since 2012, first as part of the surgical subcommittee and since 2020, as part of the Board. In addition, I belong to and collaborate with other European pediatric cancer expert groups (SIOPEN, RTSG, EXPERT, SIOPEL), international (IPSO) and I am consultant for several national groups (SEHOP groups in soft tissue sarcomas, rare tumors and renal tumors ). Since 2024, I have been president of GRECOP (Spanish Group of Pediatric Surgical Oncology).

In 2023, I presented my PhD at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, titled "Development of Orthotopic PDX (Patient-Derived Xenografts) for Pediatric Extracranial Solid Tumors", focused on the generation of preclinical models in childhood cancer, achieving an excellent Cum Laude qualification.

To date, I have published more than 70 scientific papers and book chapters, as an author or co-author, and I participate in several research projects both in pediatric cancer and in other areas of my specialty. I currently combine several research projects in pediatric cancer, as a member of the research group in Cancer and Children's Hematological Diseases of the VHIR, with more purely surgical projects (applications of intraoperative fluorescence, 3D reconstructions, development of minimally invasive techniques, projects of humanization in surgery, among others).
