I have an especial interest in pediatric cardiorespiratory failure, congenital heart disease and heart or lung transplantation in children. I was born in Barcelona and I got my medical degree from the School of Medicine of Universidad de Navarra (1987-1993). I specialized in Pediatrics at Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron (1994-1997) and I took my doctoral degree (PhD) at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. I have worked at de Pediatric Critical Care Department of Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron since I finished my training in pediatrics. I have worked as a consultant in pediatric critical care and in the pediatric and neonatal transport team. I am the director of the Pediatric & Neonatal ECMO program since 2007 and the director of the Pediatric Critical Care Department since 2011. I am an associated professor of pediatrics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona since 2016. My research interests focus on extracorporeal life support, anti-thrombotic therapy and severe infection in children.
