I am a senior researcher at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). In addition to my research work, for the past decade, I have served as a coordinator and professor in the Master's in Translational Biomedical Research at VHIR.

I graduated in Biochemistry from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in 2000. During my predoctoral research, I focused on studying the mechanisms regulating the survival and death of motor neurons following neurotrophic factor withdrawal, as well as the crucial role of calcium in this process. Additionally, I undertook predoctoral stays both in Spain, at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, and abroad, at INSERM U.382 in Marseille, which expanded my perspective and experience in the research field.

After obtaining my doctorate, I continued my research career with a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University (USA), under the supervision of Dr. A.H. Kottmann, focusing on the study of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Subsequently, I joined Dr. Steve J. Burden's group at New York University (NYU), where I participated in projects related to fibroblast differentiation into myoblasts induced by MyoD expression, as well as in the analysis of MuSK receptor overexpression in a murine model of neuromuscular pathology.

In 2012, I joined Dr. Francina Munell's group in the field of Pediatric Neurology, through the Beatriz de Pinós program, conducting a project related to neuromuscular junctions in spinal muscular atrophy. Later, I joined the cell signaling and apoptosis group, led by Dr. Joan X Comella, where I supervised several projects and directed various doctoral theses. Currently, I am a senior researcher in the Pediatric Oncology group.

In addition to my research activities, I am actively involved in training postgraduate students as a teacher and coordinator of the Diseases of the Nervous System module in the Master's in Translational Biomedical Research at VHIR since 2014.
