Andrea Guala Andrea Guala obtained a bachelor and a master degree in mechanical engineering at Polytechnic of Milan and Turin, respectively, and, in 2015, a Ph.D. at the Polytechnic of Turin. In 2016 he joined the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) in Barcelona as post-doctoral fellow. Andrea’s post-doctoral period officially ended in 2025, when, after the award of Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) tenure track call and the Miguel Servet contract, he became senior researcher at VHIR. Andrea now leads a team of researchers mostly dedicated to medical image analysis, artificial intelligence and big data in cardiology and cardiovascular diseases. By participating, most often representing VHIR, in 3 Horizon Europe projects, while being principal investigator in projects funded via the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and la Caixa Foundation, Andrea attracted substantial research funding.
